Hello, this is L. Mity, one of the judges for this year’s AIM.
First of all, thank you for participating in AIM 2025.

Thank you for your music!
It had such a bright, bouncy energy—like being filled with hope. The upbeat quality and clean progression made it very enjoyable to listen to.

I found it really interesting how your interpretation of a sunset over a city created such a different emotional direction compared to others.
Just as a side note—one of the other participants also used a sunset theme, but expressed it through slow, warm jazz, evoking a sense of calm and stillness.
In contrast, your piece focused on that light, bouncy feeling—giving the impression of hope for the coming day.
It’s always fascinating to see how differently people perceive the same world.

As a fellow composer, I feel that adding some high-pitched supporting elements—like bell tones, bright piano, or orchestral chimes—might enhance the cheerful, vibrant energy even more. These could help lift the main melody and make the overall mood sparkle just a bit brighter.

It was a joy to listen to. Wishing you all the best in your musical journey!

Hello, this is L. Mity, one of the judges for this year’s AIM.
First of all, thank you for participating in AIM 2025.

This is the first time I’ve encountered a piece that evokes both a vague sense of fear and an equally vague sense of wonder at the same time.
It felt like cosmic horror—being overwhelmed by something far beyond human understanding... something that doesn’t exist in our world, yet feels disturbingly real. It was truly mysterious.

At first, the music seemed to offer a glimmer of hope—but in the end, it steered me toward an unavoidable truth, forcing me to confront reality. That dramatic twist in narrative was genuinely shocking, in the best way.

Even before seeing the artwork, I could already picture the world you were describing—just from listening to the music alone. But after seeing the tagged image… I got chills.
It was frightening. I felt a strange kind of fear rising from within, something unexplainable. And yet, it was absolutely fascinating.

The fact that all of this could be communicated purely through sound... I believe that’s a rare and powerful achievement.
Your musical vision is truly impressive—and I’m so glad I had the chance to experience it.

This is a chiptune track that beautifully captures the nostalgic spirit of the old GBA and Game Boy era.
The use of vibrato and portamento in the melody really brought back the emotional tone of that time..
it reminded me strongly of the game Super Hexagon and its intense, fast-paced aesthetic.

The overall scenery portrayed in the artwork blends very well with the music.
There’s a constant sense of urgency, as if the listener is being chased by something unseen... It heightened the tension in a way that felt like navigating a dangerous dungeon. The music kept me focused almost like I was playing the game myself.

I especially enjoyed the way the harmony and melody kept evolving without pause. It made the whole piece feel alive—full of motion and unpredictability. A really engaging and well-crafted track!

Hello, this is L. Mity, one of the judges for this year’s AIM.
First of all, thank you for participating in AIM 2025.

This piece felt like a single delicate blade of grass growing in the middle of a vast desert.
It’s rare to encounter contemporary music of this kind on Newgrounds, which made it all the more refreshing.

The combination of the melancholic clown imagery and your dreamlike sound world created a very unusual charm. To be honest, the visual didn’t resonate with me deeply—but your music had such a unique atmosphere that I found myself listening with growing interest throughout.

You’ve taken the use of portamento to its limit here, and that alone left a strong impression.
It’s a bold choice, and it worked beautifully. Personally, I would love to see this piece accompanied by a score. While the fantastical elements you aimed for certainly come through in the sound itself, I can’t help but wonder what kind of world would unfold if I could follow your music visually as well. I truly believe there is an inner landscape—a poetic depth—that belongs uniquely to this piece.

You have something very special. I’ll be cheering for you and your musical journey ahead.

First of all, thank you for participating in AIM 2025.

I really enjoyed your piece! The use of spatial audio with panning across both stereo channels was quite engaging and fun to listen to.

The image seems to depict a deep-sea creature... but to me, it actually felt more like an “ice cave” or perhaps the kind of darkness found in an unfathomably deep part of the ocean. I personally thought the music matched that interpretation even more closely.

To be honest, I’m usually not a big fan of repetitive musical structures. But in some cases, when done well, repetition can actually be captivating—and this piece is a great example of that. The way you used repetition here created a lasting impression, a kind of hypnotic effect that stuck with me. Combined with the channel-panning technique, it left a very distinctive atmosphere.

From here on, this is just my personal feeling—but I found myself wishing there was a bit more musical expression that reflected the visual directly. Something to interpret the image more explicitly might have deepened the connection.

Still, it was a fascinating piece to listen to. I’ll be cheering you on in your future musical journey!

Hello, this is L. Mity, one of the judges for this year’s AIM.
First of all, thank you for participating in AIM 2025.

From the very introduction, it was clear to me that you have a deep understanding of each instrument. Your knowledge of string instruments especially stood out how they function, and how to bring out the sound you want. That level of insight is rare.

The concept of “the will of the machine” expressed in the artwork something cold, mechanical, and emotionless was captured so vividly in your music that it honestly gave me chills.

The use of realistic sound effects and the thoughtful placement of textures was masterful. The way you controlled dynamics—emphasizing where necessary, and pulling back where silence speaks louder created a sense of tension and release that was truly impressive.

It felt like multiple genres were interwoven into one unified work of art. I was genuinely captivated throughout.... it left me in awe.

Wonderful work. I’ll be cheering for your future!

Thanks L-Mity!
I'm glad you enjoyed the track and that's exactly what I was trying to achieve with the song design.

Thanks again for your kind words!

Hello, this is L. Mity, one of the judges for this year’s AIM.
First of all, thank you for participating in AIM 2025.

Wow... I think I’ve found the most ideal piece that embodies what AIM is all about.

As someone who studies both classical and contemporary music, I often find myself wondering how these two seemingly different elements can come together to truly resonate with an audience. And here, the way the classical sound of the flute blends so seamlessly with synth-based electronic textures... This is exactly the kind of music I’ve been striving to understand and create—music that leaves a lasting impression through balance and beauty.

The image combining sea and space, the harmony between electronic and acoustic instruments, the clarity of expression without excessive complexity... Using just a few carefully chosen effects, you’ve managed to draw out something truly beautiful. I can honestly say—regardless of AIM—this is the most complete and satisfying work I’ve encountered.

Thank you for this wonderful experience. I’ll be cheering for your future creations!

Hello, this is L. Mity, one of the judges for this year’s AIM.
First of all, thank you for participating in AIM 2025.

This piece really captured a sense of chaos—just like the image it was paired with. Truly... unique.
To be honest, as someone who values melodic coherence and musical storytelling, this was the first entry that genuinely left me feeling challenged. (laughs)
That’s not to say it was bad—on the contrary, it felt fresh. A blend of synthwave-like elements with experimental sounds... it conveyed a kind of “modern chaos” that I found quite striking.

I think the music fits the image very well, and in that sense, I’d give you high marks.

However, I must admit that I personally couldn’t connect deeply with the music itself. As the piece progressed, the number of sound effects grew noticeably, perhaps even excessively. I imagine this was your intention to create a “spooky and technological vibe”—and I see where you were going with that.

Still, I’d like to suggest that chaos in music doesn’t always have to come from effects alone. Sometimes, the same emotional tension can be expressed just as powerfully through musical elements like harmony, melody, and structural buildup.

That said, I found it genuinely interesting and creative. I’ll be cheering for your continued growth and experimentation!

Kiraichu responds:

Thanks so much for your review!! The sound effects were definitely a challenge for me but that was my intention going into this song. I’m always happy to read such detailed reviews. ^^

Hello, this is L. Mity, one of the judges for this year’s AIM.
First of all, thank you for participating in AIM 2025.

Oh jazz! And surprisingly, it’s a 3-beat jazz piece with a rather fast BPM... how interesting...
There’s something oddly fitting about it when paired with the image. The concept of “different flavors of coffee,” the poster-like artwork, and this triple-meter jazz—it’s a curious and intriguing match.

The piece stood out for its melodic variation, which was quite enjoyable. Although I’m not sure if that was your intention, the melody occasionally moved in a way reminiscent of the pentatonic scale, which gave off a slight sense of folk or ethnic music at times.

I think the musical core itself is strong, but some unnecessary effects and moments of rhythmic desynchronization made the overall texture feel a bit cluttered. I found myself wishing it had been polished just a little more.

Still, it was a fun and engaging listen. Thank you for entry of this AIM :D

Hello, this is L. Mity, one of the judges for this year’s AIM.
First of all, thank you for participating in AIM 2025.

I was genuinely surprised to hear that your second piece was in the jazz genre, especially after your first submission featured a string quartet. It’s impressive that you’re able to explore such a different style...and to be honest, I think your jazz potential have even stronger other genre you do.

The music gave me the image of watching a sunset from a car window on the way home, with an old-fashioned jazz tune playing softly on the radio. It was truly charming and evocative—such a beautiful match with the atmosphere.

Musically, the piece is built on a rather simple, looping melodic structure, but that’s not necessarily a weakness. In fact, sometimes the clarity and elegance that come from simplicity can be more impactful than complexity—and I believe that’s the case here.

That said, I did notice a few chordal mismatches. In some places, the bass line diverged slightly from the direction of the melody, creating a bit of harmonic tension that felt unintentional. Also, since the piece falls under the jazz idiom, I would have liked to hear a bit more improvisational or rhythmically dynamic expression in the main melodic line. Even just varying the rhythm of the melody more could have added an extra layer of interest and excitement.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to your work. I'm looking forward to seeing how your musical voice continues to evolve. Wishing you all the best in your creative journey!
