Hello, this is L. Mity, one of the judges for this year’s AIM.
First of all, thank you for participating in AIM 2025.
Ah… this one really brought out a strong sense of nostalgia.
It felt like something from the late '80s or early '90s—so evocative.
I could easily imagine this playing while exploring a dungeon in a Metroidvania-style game.
While it’s a loop-based track with similar sections at the start and end (which did leave me wanting a bit more variation), the mood you’ve created completely drew me in.
It has that modern-pop-meets-retro charm... I really hope you continue making more music like this.
I especially loved the lively movement in the bassline.
I'm a huge fan of counterpoint-style writing where the bass feels like a second melody.
It adds so much freedom and character, and you pulled it off beautifully.
The chord progressions were energetic and uplifting too—very well done!
If I may offer one suggestion—it would have been great to hear a new development in the latter half of the track that further expanded the atmosphere.
Still, this was a fantastic piece, and I truly enjoyed it.
I really enjoyed the piece. Wishing you all the best in your creative journey!
Hello, this is L. Mity, one of the judges for this year’s AIM.
First of all, thank you for participating in AIM 2025.
It’s great to see you again—your second submission, I assume?
As expected, your ability to convey emotion through music is exceptional.
Your previous work expressed the cold, clinical essence of a mechanical doctor… and now, you’ve translated this illustration’s atmosphere into a deeply emotional piece.
This feels like a true masterpiece. I was genuinely impressed—again.
There’s a melody that begins at 1:25 that felt slightly off-balance in its phrasing.
Of course, I’d love to ask whether that was intentional. If it was meant to match the title, "Belated Return," and you were trying to musically represent a feeling of delay or displacement, then I want to give you extra credit for that—it’s a powerful idea.
However, the final drop that starts at 2:18 might have benefitted from something a bit more distinctive.
The long-note approach, similar to the second drop at 1:25, felt a little too drawn out for me.
Personally, I think the staccato violin motif from the first drop might have been a more compelling choice to bring sharper tension and movement to the closing section.
Still, your vision and emotional storytelling are undeniable.
You're building something truly special with your work.
I really enjoyed the piece. Wishing you all the best in your creative journey!
I just did the artwork :) Im just happy it gives people inspiration for their music :)
Hello, this is L. Mity, one of the judges for this year’s AIM.
First of all, thank you for participating in AIM 2025.
As someone who remembers your earlier work, I can clearly see how much you’ve grown as a composer. You've made real progress—well done.
About the artwork… I suppose it portrays a man who burns everything to ashes, doesn’t it?
Since it's a commissioned piece, I assume the person who requested it knows the full story behind the character. But as someone only seeing the visual, I felt a little lost—I would have loved to know more about who this character is.
That said, after listening to your music, I felt more connected to the image.
Your approach to the composition seemed to align with the interpretation I had in mind, which helped bridge that gap for me.
To be honest, I didn’t find the drop particularly impactful. It felt like it needed more weight—something sharper and more piercing. For example, the buzzing synth that begins around 0:33 could’ve been shaped with more edge to create a stronger emotional hit. A more refined texture there might really elevate the tension.
However, I actually found the section starting at 1:30 far more moving. The shift in atmosphere, with the grand organ, the fiery sound effects, the strings, and the piano—it all came together beautifully. That part, to me, truly captured the essence of the artwork.
It felt like witnessing a world reduced to ashes… a moment of devastation seen from a place of eerie calm.
It’s been a long time since I’ve felt this immersed and emotionally affected just through sound alone.
I truly hope you continue to explore this expressive direction in your future work—it suits you very well.
I really enjoyed the piece. Wishing you all the best in your creative journey!
Thank you so much for the kind words!
