Hello, this is L. Mity, one of the judges for this year’s AIM.
First of all, thank you for participating in AIM 2025.
seems... string quartet yeah. this one left quite a strong impression on me.
From the perspective of AIM's core theme, I believe your music and the image work quite well together.
That said, I found some sections of your composition particularly intriguing—certain passages seemed to employ modern techniques, which added a layer of interest. The melody, built on a four-chord progression with arpeggiated upper lines, gave a sense of stability and structure. While I personally hoped the first violin would take a more prominent melodic role, I appreciated how the second violin complemented it with effective counter-melodic motion.
On the other hand, the cello and contrabass parts felt overly active at times. This made it somewhat difficult to identify the main voice, and the overall texture occasionally came across as each instrument asserting itself independently. Additionally, the violin’s frequent use of legato created a sense of drag against the tempo. I would suggest incorporating a more varied bowing technique—alternating between up and down strokes—to bring out more liveliness. In the context of a DAW, adjusting the note endings could help enhance the articulation and rhythmic clarity.
Overall, it was a fascinating piece to listen to, and I truly enjoyed it. I look forward to hearing even more refined works from you in the future!
